Volunteer Requests

CZECH REPUBLIC

Summer Interns – Join Roma Ministries next summer for six to eight weeks in strengthening existing Roma Bible study groups and starting new churches.  Ministry options include working with US volunteers, teaching ESL, children’s ministry, surveys, direct evangelism, camps, and leading Bible studies.  Some interns will have the opportunity to work directly with Roma from other countries.  These positions are part of the International Mission Board’s Student Division.

Semester Missionary – Why stay just a summer when you can make a bigger impact for the entire semester?  Become a part of the day-to-day ministry of missions in Roma communities.  Ministry options will be the same as summer interns, but will provide the opportunity to build deeper relationships.  Projects last three months.

Sports Clinics / Youth Ministry – Young people in Czech Republic like to play soccer, are fascinated by football and baseball, and think they are experts in hockey.  Why not partner with Roma Ministries to host a sport’s clinic in a community center as an avenue to reach youth and their parents? Projects last about one week.

Winter Retreats / ESL camps – Winter weather pushes many people indoors to avoid the weather or outside to play in it.  Why not partner with Roma Ministries to coordinate, sponsor, and implement a winter retreat with an entire church or youth group?  Projects last about one week and can be held in camp setting.

Current visa requirements in Czech Republic limit the amount of time a tourist can stay in the country to 90 days without applying for long-term status.

All project participants are responsible to secure travel insurance and complete a children’s security screening exam before service with the International Mission Board and its affiliates.

Prayer walking – Pray is not preparation for the good work; prayer is the good work.  For centuries, Islam, folk tradition, and state religion filled the spiritual vacuum of the people.  Even though a new team is developing in Skopje, there is still a strong need for on-site prayer.  Join Roma Ministries personnel for a first-hand experience of ‘lostness’, ‘culture gap’, and missions up close.  Projects last about one week.

Sports Outreach – Young people in Macedonia like to play soccer and are fascinated by football and baseball.  Why not partner with Roma Ministries to host a sport’s clinic in a community center as a avenue to reach youth and their parents.  Other ideas besides sports include dance lessons and computer classes.  Projects last about one week.

ESL Camp/Retreat – Winter weather pushes many people indoors to avoid the weather or outside to play in it.  Why not partner with Roma Ministries to coordinate, sponsor, and implement a winter retreat with an entire church or youth group?  Projects last about one week and can be held in resort setting.
